Wow! Where has the time gone? You know what they say, time flies when you're having fun.
....And the last two weeks of Reading Buddies have been just that fun with, our new friend, Francis.
Week 3 Summary: Francis and the children had a tea party and made their own special cups just like in the book, A Bargain for Francis. Children learned new "cool words", to help expand their vocabulary and recognized these words throughout the story. The children also learned what a bargain is and participated in a quick money exercise. Once we were done, we took advantage of the warm, sunny weather and ventured outside for play time.
Week 4 Summary: We became best friends with Francis and made a special recipe of friendship of pie! To start our class the children listen to a special song all about friendship and shared their highs and lows of the day. It was a really great day for all the children! The book of the week was, Best friends for Francis. The children were happy to learn another story about their friend Francis and some students even summarized the book from the previous week, remembering the character's names and wondering if they too would join in this adventure. Our discussion lead us to learning how to treat our friends and making sure we include include everyone and practice being inclusive.
Special Reminder: Reading Buddies is on the school calendar and is closed this Tuesday. We will see you all in one week.
