Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope you enjoyed your day in green-- or did you forget and get the pinch? St. Paddy's day is a day of fun for all ages. It is also a day for Christians to remember a brave man, who despite adversities, followed his divine calling to follow God, no matter what! So who was this man St. Patrick?

“He who is powerful came and in His mercy pulled me out, and lifted me up and placed me on the very top of the wall. That is why I must shout aloud in return to the Lord for such great good deeds of His, here and now and forever, which the human mind cannot measure.” -St. Patrick

Top Ten Things You May Not Know About St. Patrick

1. Patrick was born in Britain into a Christian family around the late 4th century A.D.

2. He was kidnapped by Irish pirates at the age of 16 and sold into slavery in Ireland.

3. During his time as a slave, being separated from his close family and desperate to be free, Patrick developed a deep relationship with Jesus.

4. St. Patrick escaped from slavery and reunited with his family, after being in captivity for six years.

5. St. Patrick was said to have visions, believing that God was calling him to preach the Word of God, to the very people who held him captive!

6. Do you know, St. Patrick answered his calling, returned to Ireland and devoted his life to ministry and the life of the church.

Can you imagine God sending you to preach and minister to the very people who enslaved you? What a spirit of obedience! Today let us reflect on a hard task God maybe calling us to. Perhaps, it's to be kind to those who have mistreated you, or maybe its making a decision that may not be favorable upon others. Whatever it maybe, I pray God grants you the strength, courage, and serenity to fulfill the calling on your life.

As we observe the Lenten Season, may we reflect on the ultimate sacrifice of Christ and his faithful follower St. Patrick.

Peace be to you. Happy St. Patrick's Day
